CAF rejects Berekum Chelsea request to host Ahly in Kumasi

CAF has instructed Berekum Chelsea to revert to the Accra Sports Stadium for their Champions League match against Al Ahly.

The debutants had written a request to the continental football governing body wanting to play their Group B match at Baba Yara Stadium but that has been rejected.

“We just received a reply letter from CAF and they have instructed us to revert to the Accra Sports stadium which was the initial venue because they found no fault with that venue,” the club’s spokesperson Isaac Amponsah told GHANAsoccernet.com

“We wanted to listen to our fans plea of getting the match closer to them but we have been let down by CAF so we would just apologize to the fans.”

Chelsea are third on the table and need a win to to revive their chances of qualifying to the semi-final.
