Cycling Fed Director in Egypt to upgrade skills

The Technical Director of the Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF), Shaaban Mohammed, is currently in Cairo-Egypt to undertake a scholarship programme in International Cycling Union (UCI) Level 2 Training Course for Coaches in Africa.

The invitation, which is at the instance of the Confederation of African Coaches (CAC), is aimed at upgrading the knowledge of local coaches as part of measures to improve on the sport on the continent.

A statement issued from the GCF said Mr. Waggih Azzam, CAC President who was signed the invitation, praised the Ghana Cycling Federation for successfully organizing the 2nd Edition of the Cowbell National Cycling Tour of Ghana.

The 2012 Cowbell National Cycling Tour of Ghana saw 72 cyclists from 12 Cycling Clubs participating over eight Regions across Ghana

The statement said the course which begun from the June 4th – June 16th will see other top coaches from Africa attending.

Ghana’s progress in the sport has seen it benefit for international recognition as well as receive the rights in hosting this year’s Africa’s Commissaire Meeting later this year.**
