Nartey wins second stage of Cowbell Tour du Ghana

Samuel Nartey of H.M Club on Wednesday won the Yellow Jersey at the second stage of the 2012 Cowbell Cycling Tour of Ghana from Cape Coast to Takoradi over a distance of 82-kilomteres at a time of 2:09:09.

The winner of the ultimate award also won the Green Jersey for the Best by point award. The youngest award of the white jersey was for the second time won by 18-year old Victor Cudjoe of the All Stars Cycling Club.

The Best Fighter Award of the Red Jersey was won by Samuel Anim of the Young Star Club, overall winner of the first stage of the tour whilst his team won the Blue Jersey for the best team.

Nartey received 400 Ghana cedis, a trophy and a hamper of cowbell products for his exploits.

He attributed his performance to determination adding “I feel proud of my performance.”

He pledged to do more to ensure his team maintains the Yellow Jersey at the remaining stages of the tour.

The third stage of the tour on Thursday will start from Assin Fosu in the Central Region to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region over a distance of 145-kilometres.

Seventy-two (72) cyclists from 12 clubs are competing for honours.

The Cowbell Tour of Ghana is being organized by the Ghana Cycling Federation with support from Promasidor Ghana Limited, Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Authority (NSA), Bic, TV3, Multimedia Group, Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service amongst others**
