Ghanaian boxer Prosper Ankrah has vowed to claim the Commonwealth Super Bantamweight belt on March 17 when he fights incumbent champion Carl Frampton at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

Ankrah (18-2, 13 KOs) suffered the only losses of his career the two previous occasions he fought outside Ghana but the Ghanaian is adamant he will be victorious this time when he faces the highly rated and unbeaten Frampton (12-0, 8 KOs) in what is also his first fight outside Africa.

“Losing those two fights in South Africa was really an eye opener and I learnt a lot from them so I will be ready this time. My coaches have prepared me very well and I’m in the form of my life. Nothing is stopping me from winning this title because there can be no stepping back now. I need this title to push for a world title and I’m winning,” Ankrah has exclusively told www.sportsinghana.com.

Sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control and promoted by Barry Hearn of Matchroom Boxing and set to be screened live in the UK on the famous Sky TV, the bout will be the second defence for Frampton who first won the title back in September last year and made a successful defence in January this year.

Ankrah who will be accompanied to the UK by his trainer Eben Amartey and Manager Ransford Anokye, has however shrugged aside any worries. He remains upbeat he will be victorious and is asking for the support of Ghanaians.

“This is my time and I am marching to be world champion. I’m appealing to Ghanaians to all remember me in their prayers beacsue I’m going to win this title for all of us,” Propser Ankrah stated.
