Mali Coach anticipates Ghana test

Mali coach Alain Giresse said have drawn tough sides in Group D, as they prepare to embark on their Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

The former France international said Ghana are their likely threats, but will map out a strategy that can neutralise the onslaughts of the four-time African champions.

"It’s not an easy group, it’s a difficult group," the 59-year-old told the press, with Mali also scheduled to play Botswana and Guinea in the group stages.

"It will not be easy especially against Ghana. They are the favourites, but in the end the other teams will compete."

Giresse noted it will be unrealistic to set a concrete target for his side but will aim at getting the best out of his charges.

"We want the best, we want the maximum. We will do whatever it takes to get the best performance," he added.

Mali open their Cup campaign when they take on Guinea on Tuesday.
