Lodz claim last-minute Painstil deal

Widzew Lodz have signed Ghana international defender John Painstil a matter of hours before the Polish transfer window closed.

Painstil, who was an ever-present in Ghana's African Nations Cup campaign, was unable to travel to Poland before the transfer window closed on Thursday night so the deal was completed by fax.

He joins Cameroon international Clement Beaud who moved to the club three weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the club have agreed to loan Nigeria international Emmanuel Ekwueme to Polonia Warsaw after becoming increasingly frustrated with his conduct.

Earlier this season they slashed his wages for persistently returning late from international duty and have been looking to offload him for some time.
