Miners hold Dwarfs with 10-men

AshantiGold, reduced to 10-men managed to hold Ebusua Dwarfs to a 1-1 draw in the GHALCA Glo G8 at the Sekondi Sports Stadium.

Both sides scored from spot-kicks in either half to earn a share of the spoils in the opening Group B contest.

Didier Kore converted a first half penalty to give the Miners the lead before they had Aziz Ibrahim sent off in the 50th minute.

Despite having a numerical advantage, Dwarfs, laboured to find the back of the net until the 77th minute when Seidu Bansi got the equaliser from the spot.

In the other group fixture, Medeama crashed Liberty Professionals 3-1 at the same venue.

Liberty rather drew first blood when Ibrima Camara opened the scoring on three minutes.

But their opponents drew level through a Hans Coffie strike to end the first half 1-1.

Substitute Mohammed Tanko put Medeama in the lead, 10 minutes into the start of the second half before Hans Coffe grabbed his second, five minutes later
