Medeama ready to beat all in Ghana

Fresh from claiming the Kofi Annan Cup via 1-0 victory over Ebusua Dwarfs in the final of the Top 4 tournament in commemoration of the Fetu Afahye festival in Cape Coast, Medeama SC are promising their fans that they have arrived. The Glo G8 competition which kick starts this weekend is the next trophy they are promising to lay hands on before shifting focus to the Glo Ghana Premier League.

“Every competition in which we compete, we have to win it, that’s the ambition. We think we have a team to beat any other team in Ghana. So now we have won our first off-season trophy courtesy the Kofi Annan Cup, the Glo G8 trophy is next then the league itself,” Ebenezer Aidoo, Communications Director of Medeama told ALL SPORTS yesterday.

Mr. Aidoo who speaks for club President Moses Parker, says his confidence derives from the massive recruitment undertaken by the club in the off-season. Among them Atia Sumaila formerly of RTU, Osei Berko (Berekum Arsenal), Rockson and Adjei Bekoe (both Heart of Lions), Tanko Mohammed who like another new recruit Francis Coffie has returned home after a stint in Spain are some of the new names on the Medeama team sheet.

“We have signed 8 or 9 quality players to help us win the Premier League. The Kofi Annan Cup was a good test because we played against formidable opponents. It’s a very good preparation and we happy that the old boys have blended well with the new players,” Aidoo said.

He is backed by head coach of the club Bashiru Hayford who is fired up for the Glo G8 already. “The team is in shape and ready for our next challenge which is the Top 8 tournament. I expect a good outing and for us to win the cup,” Coach Bash was quoted by the club’s website *www.medeamasc.com* .
