FA Members Deny Knowledge Of Nike Deal

Members of the Ghana Football Association have denied knowledge of attempts to woo United States kit manufacturing giants, Nike to sponsor the Black Stars and other national teams.

FA member, Abedi Ayew Pele is reported to have said that the association is wooing Nike but members of the FA say it is not true.

The revelation by some FA members comes a shock and it now seems that Abedi Pele, who is a co-chairman of the FA’s sponsorship committee is working alone without contacting the management board.

Some FA members have condemned Abedi’s decision to grant an interview on such an issue coming at a time when the FA is facing serious criticism about the Adidas deal.

Abedi’s claim that the new management came into office to meet nothing and after six months have secured deals with Adidas and Guinness PLC in the interview has been described as false.

According to some members of the Executive Council, Alhaji Jawula’s team established the relationship and secured a deal with Guinness PLC.

Meanwhile, FA chairman, Ben Koufie will submit his report about the Adidas deal at a press conference to be held early next week.

This is to afford the media the opportunity to seek clarification on the FA’s way forward after CAN 2002, the Adidas kit deal and the sponsorship deal for the Premier league.
