Coaches urged to broaden scouting

The success story of a Division One side as FA Cup winners in the history of the tournament is further testimony to the untapped talent pool in the country, says Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

At Sunday's MTN FA Cup award ceremony, the President of GFA appealed to coaches to broaden their scouting by taking a look at teams in the lower divisions of Ghana football.

Nyantakyi said the game had developed strongly with the Cup competition, which produced shocks, offering teams in the lower divisions an opportunity to show off their competitiveness.

Division One side, FC Nania emerged winners after beating premier league campaigners, Asante Kotoko 1-0 in extra-time.

“The fact that Nania won the FA Cup bares ample testimony that there are a lot of talents in the lower ranks of our football,” Nyantakyi said.

“Therefore our coaches should be aware and pay more attention to the unearthing of talents at that level.”
