Kotoko Recruits New Players

Kumasi Asante Kotoko has confirmed speculations by finally signing on two new players, Nana Arhin-Duah and Aminu Musah both of Obuasi Goldfields. The recruitment of a third player, Stephen Owusu from Division One side, Mine Stars however came as a surprise to fans since they least expected it. The three were spotted at the Kumasi Ridge training grounds of the club on Tuesday morning.

The widely speculated move of John Paintsil of Arsenals to Asante Kotoko however remains a mystery for now because the Chairman of Berekum Arsenals has refused moves by his boy to join the porcurpine warriors. Reports say Kotoko’s rival, Accra Hearts of Oak is in pole position to sign on Paintsil even though he has committed himself to Asante Kotoko by signing the African Cup Winners Cup card.

The Chairman of Arsenals is reported to be much more comfortable with Paintsil moving to Hearts instead of Kotoko. There are also reports that Black Stars captain and Hearts of Oak’s, Emmanuel Osei Kuffour will be donning the red colours of Kotoko if he does not secure any deal abroad.

For now, the Kotoko management is tight-lipped over their new signings. The arrival of the Black Stars on Tuesday afternoon from Mali where they crashed out of the Nations Cup competition to Nigeria would set the stage for fighting between Ghana’s two top clubs over player transfers.
