2011 Cowbell Cycling Tour ends in Accra

Accra, April 13, GNA - The final stage of this year's Cowbell Tour of Ghana 2011 ended at the Trade Fair Centre, Accra last weekend. This year's tour which covered a total distance of 1009.40km featured 80 professional cyclists from 10 Clubs across the various regions.

The ultimate leader's jersey went to Henry Tetteh Djangmah of Die Hard Club who made it with the best time in this year's Tour to take home an amount of GH¢5,000.00.

Samuel Anim of Young Stars Club secured his favorite Green Jersey with the best of points and recieved an amount of GH¢2,500.00 to his credit.

In the junior's category, 15 year old Anthony Boakye of River Park Club took home GH¢500.00 and again commanded the favorite White Jersey by swooping 8 in all.

Adnan Mohammed of River Park Club pulled a shocker by priding himself with the Red Jersey which indicates his quality combativity and aggression on riding with an amount of GH¢1500 as his cash prize. The Best Team's award went to City Migro Club based in Accra. They took home GH¢3000 for their effort.

With an overall average speed of 37.2km/h made in this year's Tour, it has unearthed a whole bunch of experience that the cyclists have up their sleeves.

The Ghana Cycling Association (GCA) is already making advanced preparations towards the upcoming event in the Togo-Tour du Togo next week.

A statement signed by Dennis Moore, Communications Director of the Ghana Cycling Association copied to GNA Sports commended Cowbell Promasidor Ghana Limited, Pens & Plastics, TV3, Multi-media, members of the media and the general public for their support towards the success of the event.
