Ghanaian winger Ernest Nuamah is a major doubt for the Black Stars’ squad ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Somalia.
Concerns over the player's fitness emerged after he missed Lyon's UEFA Europa League encounter against Real Sociedad on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
Reports indicate that the winger sustained a muscle strain in his last appearance, which has sidelined him as medical staff assess the extent of the injury.

Olympique Lyonnais interim manager Jorge Maciel has admitted that Nuamah's availability for Sunday's Ligue 1 meeting with Brest remains uncertain, with further assessments ongoing.
“They’ve suffered muscle strains. We hope to have them back for Sunday’s match in Brest. We’re waiting for an update; we don’t yet know if they’ll be fit or not. We’ll see how things are progressing when we return to Lyon,” Maciel said while providing an update on Nuamah and his teammate Moussa Niakhaté.
Meanwhile, the former FC Nordsjælland winger has been influential for Lyon this season, making 13 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals and providing one assist.
The injury could also be a blow to the Black Stars as they prepare to face Somalia in a double-header that could prove crucial to their 2027 AFCON qualification hopes.
Interim Black Stars head coach Kim Lars Björkegren and his technical team are yet to announce the squad for the upcoming fixtures.
The first match against Somalia is scheduled for Thursday, November 12, with the return fixture set for November 16.
