Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal appeared disappointed after Harry Kane was announced as the winner of the 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or in London on October 27, 2026.
Ahead of the ceremony, Yamal was tipped as one of the leading contenders for the award alongside Kylian Mbappé and Kane but ultimately missed out on the top prize.
Dressed in a black suit, the Spanish winger appeared tense before the winner was announced and maintained a similar facial expression after the announcement.
Kane ends England's 25-year Ballon d'Or wait
While Kane delivered his acceptance speech, the camera panned to Yamal, who still appeared tense in what seemed to be a disappointing moment for the Barcelona star.
The Spanish prodigy enjoyed an impressive campaign with Barcelona, contributing significantly to the club’s success. In La Liga, he scored 16 goals and provided 12 assists, recording 41 goal contributions in 45 appearances across all competitions.
In terms of silverware, he won La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup with Barcelona, as well as the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Spain, scoring one goal in eight matches as his country lifted the trophy.
Yamal had emerged as a strong contender for the award, with his performances and statistics strengthening his case for the prestigious accolade.
At just 19, the Barcelona winger still has plenty of time to win the Ballon d’Or, having finished among the top three for the second consecutive year.
