Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams says authorities can't trace an influencer allegedly linked to US$610,000 in funds tied to arrangements for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking on TV3's Hot Issues on Sunday, October 11, 2026, Adams alleged that some individuals working with Tribe Culture took the money and could no longer be traced.

“Some persons and an influencer working with TribeCulture took away the sum of $610k regarding the 2026 World Cup tickets, and we cannot trace them,” he said.

The minister alleged that the individual also supplied information to Old Tafo Member of Parliament Vincent Ekow Assafuah amid questions about the handling of visa arrangements involving the National Sports Authority (NSA), the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), and Tribe Culture Fest.

Adams also sought to distance his ministry from claims that people paid money to secure places on lists submitted for visa processing.

“The ministry knew nothing about two thousand and three thousand dollars. The ministry knew nothing about any payment whatsoever," he said.

He further disclosed that the US Embassy had introduced Tribe Culture Fest to the NSA and GTA before the planned World Cup-related activities.

“Tribe Fest Culture, I’m told, was introduced to the National Sports Authority and the Ghana Tourism Authority by the American Embassy. That is what my investigations told me,” Adams added.

However, Tribe Culture Fest chief executive Nana Boateng Gyimah has denied receiving the money illegally, insisting his organisation’s agreement was with the NSA and GTA. He has challenged the minister to provide evidence supporting the allegation.
