The Black Stars have held their first training session ahead of Ghana’s crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire, with six players reporting to camp at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Benjamin Asare, Caleb Yirenkyi, Gideon Mensah, Ronald Donkor, Kwasi Sibo and Christopher Bonsu Baah were the players involved in the opening session as preparations began for the clash.

The players went through a series of physical exercises, including running drills, before moving into passing and other ball-work exercises as the technical team began preparations for the upcoming assignment.

Benjamin Asare, the only goalkeeper currently in camp, had a separate and more intensive session with goalkeeping coach Fatau Dauda.

The Hearts of Oak goalkeeper was put through a range of drills focused on shot-stopping, positioning and reactions as Dauda worked closely with him throughout the session.

With more players expected to join the squad in the coming days, the training session provided the first glimpse of Ghana’s preparations ahead of their trip to Côte d’Ivoire.

The Black Stars will face the Ivorians in Bouaké on September 24 before returning home to take on The Gambia on September 29, 2026.
