Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has called up nine new players to join the national team after some players withdrew from the squad ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Kudus Mohammed, Nathaniel Adjei and Prince Kwabena Adu all withdrew from the squad over fitness concerns as they seek to fully recover with their respective clubs.

As a result, the Portuguese gaffer has called up defenders Jonas Adjetey (VfL Wolfsburg), Alidu Seidu (OGC Nice), Ebenezer Annan (Rapid Bucharest) and Rockson Yeboah (Osasuna) to augment the squad.

Other players include midfielder Rahim Ibrahim (Slovan Bratislava), while the attackers comprise Brandon Thomas-Asante (Coventry City), Mohammed Fuseini (Derby County), Benjamin Tetteh (Kalba) and Felix Afena-Gyan (Iğdır FK).

These players are expected to report to camp soon to join their teammates and prepare for the games ahead as the team seeks to avoid missing out on the AFCON for another time.

Ghana are scheduled to play Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24 before welcoming The Gambia to Accra on September 29, 2026.

They will then face Morocco in an international friendly on October 4, 2026, to round off the September/October 2026 international break.

The objective is to record positive results in the two qualifiers to put the nation in a strong position to secure qualification and avoid late drama in the qualifiers once again.
