Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo says the team is mentally prepared for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire.

Speaking to the media ahead of the crucial encounter, Sibo acknowledged the quality of the Ivorian side but said Ghana must be fully prepared for the challenge.

“We know the opponent in front of us, and mentally, we have to be well prepared,” Sibo said.

The midfielder also acknowledged the limited preparation time, with players reporting to camp at different times ahead of the match.

According to him, the Black Stars are aware of the importance of the fixture and are determined to improve on what the team was unable to achieve at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Sibo further highlighted the significance of the AFCON qualifiers, particularly after Ghana failed to qualify for the previous tournament.

He said every match carries importance for the country and urged his teammates to approach the games with the right mentality.

The midfielder also admitted that Ghana will miss the experience of Thomas Partey, who is unavailable for the fixture.

However, Sibo believes the players brought in to fill the gap must trust the coach’s tactics and give their best for the national team.

“The expectation is high, and we are ready for this task,” he added.

“We know the opponent in front of us, and mentally, we have to be well prepared.”
