Mohammed Kudus has reportedly withdrawn from Ghana’s squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, despite initially being included in Carlos Queiroz’s 24-man selection.

According to 3Sports, the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has opted to remain with his club as he continues his recovery and works towards regaining full match fitness following a lengthy injury absence.

The decision has reportedly been communicated to both the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and coach Carlos Queiroz.

Kudus only recently returned to Premier League action after spending several months on the sidelines with a serious quad injury.

He came on at half-time during Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, September 19, 2026 and made an immediate impact, providing the assist for Conor Gallagher’s goal late in the game.

The appearance came shortly after Kudus made his first start since January in Tottenham’s Carabao Cup meeting with Liverpool.

His extended absence also ruled him out of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

The 26-year-old was subsequently included in Queiroz’s latest squad after returning to competitive football.

Kudus’ most recent appearance for the Black Stars came in October 2025, when his goal secured a 1-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Comoros in Accra.

Ghana are scheduled to play Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24 before welcoming The Gambia to Accra on September 29, 2026.

They will then face Morocco in an international friendly on October 4, 2026.
