Ghanaian midfielder Ronald Donkor scored his second MLS goal to end New York Red Bulls' six-game winless run with victory at Columbus Crew.

Donkor fired home from inside the box after meeting a fine low cross from Cameron Harper with just a minute left as Red Bulls left Columbus with a deserved win.

The victory keeps Red Bulls' hopes of a play-offs spot alive despite a difficult run in their last six matches, where they had failed to win a match, drawing two and losing four.

Despite their struggles, Donkor has been in fine form for Michael Bradley's men, making 23 regular season appearances this term. He remains one of the few players from the team that reached the final of the MLS championship in 2024.

Donkor has been knocking on the doors of the Black Stars with his performances in the MLS, and reports in Ghana suggest the Red Bulls player could make the list for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers. Coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to release his squad next week for the matches against Ivory Coast and The Gambia.

His compatriot Mohammed Sofo also enjoyed the entire game, as he competes for consistent game time under their American manager.

The victory moves NY Red Bulls to tenth position on the Eastern Conference table, just two points away from automatic play-offs spot.
