Veteran broadcaster Fiifi Banson has urged President John Dramani Mahama to prioritise the renovation of Ghana’s existing sports stadia instead of pursuing plans to construct 10 new facilities.
According to him, President Mahama could earn significant public support by focusing on the rehabilitation of existing stadia rather than building new ones.
“I can tell you, President Mahama will be more popular if we do the other stadiums in this country, if we do all of them properly to world-class standard, and he doesn't even build one more stadium,” he said.
Fiifi Banson further stated that such an approach could cement Mahama’s legacy as one of Ghana’s greatest presidents.

“He will be the most popular. In fact, he will be the greatest-ever president in Ghana,” he added.
He also expressed doubts about the government’s plan to construct 10 new stadia, insisting that the proposal may not be realised.
“This 10 new stadium we are looking at building, it won't happen,” Banson stated.
He cited Morocco’s investment in stadium infrastructure, arguing that Ghana could achieve better value by upgrading its current facilities to world-class standards.
“Why are we not using the money to renovate the other stadiums and make it world-class standard?” Banson asked.
