The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season will come with a significantly improved financial package, with the eventual champions set to receive GH¢3 million in prize money.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a total prize-money package of GH¢9.5 million for the upcoming campaign, giving clubs an added financial incentive to compete for the top positions.

GFA President Kurt Okraku disclosed the figures during the Association’s 32nd Ordinary Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Under the announced structure, the league champions will take home GH¢3 million, while the runners-up will receive GH¢1 million.

The team finishing third will be rewarded with GH¢800,000, with fourth place earning GH¢750,000.

Beyond the end-of-season prizes, the GFA has also committed to providing each of the 18 Premier League clubs with GH¢1 million before the start of the 2026/27 season.

That means the clubs will receive direct financial support as they prepare for the new campaign, while the additional prize money will make the battle for the upper reaches of the table even more valuable.

The financial boost comes at a time when clubs in the domestic top flight continue to face significant operational and financial challenges, including player wages, recruitment, travel and match-day expenses.

The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League is scheduled to kick off between September 4 and 7, with all 18 clubs set to begin their campaigns under the new financial arrangement.
