Ghana among the Eight teams confirmed for WAFU Cup

ORGANISERS of the yearly West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Cup of Nations have confirmed that eight teams would feature in this edition of the championship.

Also, host of the 2010 edition will equally host this edition, with Ijebu Ode and Abeokuta hosting matches from May 5 to 15. In a release signed by WAFU scribe, Aka Malan, the participating teams include Senegal, Togo, Liberia, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire and defending champion, Nigeria.

According to Malan, the draws for the sub-regional competition holds on April 20, while plans are on to stage a world-class event. The total prize money for the event is $50,000, with the winner carting home $25,000. Nigeria beat Senegal at the last edition to lift the trophy in Abeokuta.
