Former Ghana international Dominic Adiyiah has revealed what he believes was the reason Feyenoord deliberately kept him out of a tournament in France during the 2006/2007 Ghana Premier League season..

Adiyiah, who was emerging as one of Ghana’s promising young forwards at the time, claims Feyenoord suddenly found a way to exclude him from the trip after he became a potential target for clubs abroad.

In a video shared by the former Black Stars striker, Feyenoord had selected him for the France tournament alongside other young players before a late development changed the plans.

“A day before they left for a tournament, they brought a visa that SuperSport United wanted me because of my exploits in the GPL,” he said.

Adiyiah alleges the move to South Africa was not simply a genuine opportunity but a way of preventing him from travelling with the squad to France, where he could have attracted interest from other clubs.

“Not knowing it was a plan to take me out of the team’s travel to France. Because they knew I could get a contract and the money would not go to them but rather to my Colts team,” he revealed.

On the day the team was scheduled to leave, Adiyiah was sent to South Africa, where he says he was given very little time to settle before being taken to training.

“The day we were supposed to travel, they got me on a plane to South Africa,” he stated.

He said he trained with SuperSport United for just one day before being informed that he would return to Ghana, by which time Feyenoord had already departed for France.

“When I returned to Ghana, the team that was traveling to France had already jetted off,” he recalled.

Adiyiah said the experience left him frustrated and eventually contributed to his decision to leave Feyenoord.

“When they returned from France, I told them I won’t continue with Feyenoord because they have shown me that I don’t deserve better opportunities,” he added.
