Ghana coach Kim Lars Björkegren could stick with a familiar starting lineup when the Black Queens face Malawi in their crucial WAFCON quarter-final, with a place in the semi-finals and a 2027 Women’s World Cup ticket at stake.

In goal, Cynthia Konlan is expected to retain her place between the posts, with the technical team likely to maintain continuity in the defensive unit.

Comfort Yeboah could continue at right-back after making a significant contribution in Ghana’s final Group D game against Mali. Yeboah provided the assist for Evelyn Badu’s goal in that encounter and could once again be trusted to provide width and attacking support from the right.

At the heart of the defence, Portia Boakye is expected to partner Susan Ama Duah, while Josephine Bonsu Kyerewaa could retain her position at left-back after being deployed there in Ghana’s previous game.

The midfield could feature Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, Grace Asantewaa and Jennifer Cudjoe, with the trio expected to play a key role in helping Ghana control possession and prevent Malawi from launching quick counter-attacks.

Up front, Doris Boaduwaa, Alice Kusi and Evelyn Badu could form the attacking trio.

Badu will be one of Ghana’s key outlets after scoring against Mali, while Boaduwaa and Kusi will be expected to stretch a Malawi defence that has impressed throughout the tournament.
