Former Saudi Arabia international Fahad Al-Muwallad has been stuck in a coma nearly two years after a serious fall from the balcony of his apartment in Dubai.

Al-Muwallad was rushed to hospital in September 2024 after falling from the second floor of his residence.

He suffered severe injuries, including serious head trauma, and was placed in intensive care.

Nearly two years later, reports indicate that the former Al-Ittihad and Al-Shabab forward is still undergoing medical care.

News of his prolonged condition resurfaced after false reports of his death circulated on social media in November 2025.

His family moved to dismiss the reports and appealed to the public to stop spreading unverified information and instead pray for his recovery.

The accident brought a sudden halt to the career of one of Saudi Arabia's most recognisable footballers.

Al-Muwallad, now 31, earned 75 international appearances for Saudi Arabia and scored 17 goals.

He was part of the country's squad at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and spent much of his club career with Al-Ittihad before later joining Al-Shabab.

He had also been one of Saudi Arabia's most dangerous attacking players during the country's qualifying campaigns, particularly because of his pace and ability to play on the wing.

The circumstances surrounding his fall have also attracted attention.

Saudi and Emirati authorities began investigations after the incident, while reports at the time raised questions about what happened before he fell from the balcony.

For almost two years, however, the focus has been on his fight for recovery.
