The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Ghana has rejected reports that some members of Team Ghana have gone missing following the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

In a statement issued on Monday, August 3, 2026, the committee described the reports as inaccurate, urging the public and media to rely on confirmed information from the relevant authorities before drawing conclusions about the whereabouts of athletes.

The clarification follows growing discussions over athletes who have remained in the United Kingdom after the conclusion of the Games.

"NPC Ghana has taken note of recent media reports and public discussions regarding the status of some Team Ghana athletes following the conclusion of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games," the committee said.

It also referred to comments from Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Communications Director Charles Osei Asibey, who explained that members of Team Ghana were scheduled to return to Ghana in batches rather than as one group.

"NPC Ghana further acknowledges the clarification by the Communications Director of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Charles Osei Asibey, as reported by Sporty FM, that Team Ghana athletes are scheduled to return to Ghana in batches,” the statement added.

The NPC cautioned against describing athletes as missing or unaccounted for without confirmation from the appropriate authorities.

"In view of this official clarification, NPC Ghana wishes to state that it is inaccurate to characterize athletes as 'missing' or 'unaccounted for' without verified facts from the appropriate authorities," the statement said.

The committee further clarified that the GOC's designated Games Management structure handled Team Ghana's accommodation, logistics, administration and travel arrangements during the competition.

It added that some athletes remaining in Britain should not automatically be viewed as having disappeared, noting that immigration permissions remain valid until August 16, 2026, while others are returning home in scheduled groups.
