The Black Satellites have exited the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship after being held to a goalless draw by Togo in their final Group B match at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire.

Needing victory to keep their semi-final hopes alive, Ghana delivered one of their most composed performances of the tournament. Maxwell Konadu's side controlled possession for long periods, created the better chances and thought they had found the decisive goal, only for the effort to be ruled out.

Despite their dominance, the breakthrough never came as the Black Satellites were forced to settle for a point, bringing their campaign to an end.

Ghana finished third in Group B with two points from three matches, having suffered a 4-2 defeat to Nigeria in their opening fixture before drawing 1-1 with Burkina Faso and 0-0 with Togo.

Although the Black Satellites failed to reach the semi-finals, the tournament provided valuable lessons for the squad. The team displayed resilience, attacking ambition and character throughout the competition while gaining important experience against some of the strongest youth sides in the WAFU B region.

Head coach Maxwell Konadu also used the championship to assess a number of players under competitive conditions, with several members of the squad gaining valuable international exposure.

With Ghana already guaranteed a place at the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations as tournament hosts, the WAFU B U-20 Championship served as a key part of the team's preparations.
