Day Six of the Commonwealth Games saw Ghanaian athletes produce mixed results, with some securing qualification while others bowed out after defeats.

Sprinters James Dadzie and Joseph Paul Amoah impressed in their respective men’s 200m heats to qualify for the semifinals, keeping alive hopes of earning a medal if they reach the final.

Baba Mohammed placed sixth in Heat 1 of the men’s 400m hurdles, clocking 51.48 seconds in a keenly contested race.

Lovina Ewusi secured a fifth-place finish in the women’s 400m hurdles, posting a time of 57.60 seconds in a highly competitive event.

Despite high expectations, Hayford Addai finished fifth in the men’s 100m T47 at the 2026 Games in Glasgow, recording a time of 11.00 seconds. The youngster had been tipped to clinch a medal but fell short in a disappointing outcome.

Another setback hit Team Ghana as Precious Akai Nettey lost to Marvin Clair of Mauritius by unanimous decision in the men’s 70kg boxing quarterfinal, ending his pursuit of a medal.

So far, the team has secured only one medal, a silver won by para athlete Zinabu Issah, with the remaining athletes suffering eliminations.
