Eric Akwasi Agyei, the uncle of Union Berlin defender Derrick Kohn, has strongly criticised the decision to leave his nephew out of Ghana's provisional World Cup squad, insisting he would never allow his own child to represent the country under the current system.
Speaking on Peace FM, Agyei reacted angrily to reports suggesting Kohn's omission was due to an incomplete nationality switch from Germany to Ghana.
He rejected those claims, backing earlier statements from Derrick's brother, Michael, that the switch had already been completed.
Kohn previously featured in friendly matches for Ghana, but players must complete their nationality switch before they can represent the country in official competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. Agyei suggested there were other reasons behind the omission, alleging foul play in the selection process.
"Me, Akwasi Agyei, I will never ever let my child play for Ghana. It will never happen," he declared.
He also expressed concern about the broader implications of the situation.
"My nephew plays regular football for Union Berlin and earns his salary, but the nationality switch complications will make a potential move to play for Germany instead more difficult. That's what worries me, not him being sidelined by Ghana officials in future call-ups."
Agyei's comments add to the growing frustration surrounding Kohn's exclusion, with the family now openly questioning the integrity of Ghana's player selection process.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a solid Bundesliga campaign, making 29 appearances for Union Berlin.
