The Ghana Football Association has reportedly opened talks with Jamaica over a potential international friendly as the Black Stars intensify preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana’s technical team is keen to sharpen the squad ahead of the global tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The proposed friendly against Jamaica forms part of efforts to ensure the Black Stars are fully prepared for the competition.

The Black Stars have already faced strong opposition in recent months, including tests against Austria and Germany during the tenure of former head coach Otto Addo.

However, a series of disappointing results led to his departure from the role. Most recently, Ghana suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mexico at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, with assistant coach Desmond Ofei taking charge of the side.

The team had initially been scheduled to conclude their pre-World Cup friendlies against Wales national football team on June 2 at Cardiff City Stadium.

However, reports suggest newly appointed head coach Carlos Queiroz has requested an additional fixture to further evaluate his squad before the tournament begins.

That request has now sparked fresh fixture planning, with discussions reportedly at an advanced stage for a possible meeting with Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz.

Ghana head into the 2026 World Cup aiming to bounce back from recent disappointments after group-stage exits in both 2014 and 2022.
