Black Stars forward, Antoine Semenyo has admitted the national team camp was left deeply frustrated after Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

It marked the first time in more than two decades that Ghana missed out on the continental showpiece, following a disappointing qualifying campaign.

The Black Stars ended Group F at the bottom with three points from six matches, recording three draws and three defeats.

Speaking in an interview with FIFA, Semenyo, who has become an important figure in the squad, said the disappointment was significant but insisted the team had since responded positively.

"We were so frustrated that we didn't qualify. It was very, very tough. But I feel like we've rectified that in terms of qualifying for the World Cup," the 26-year-old said.

He added that the group’s focus has now shifted to competing at the highest level on the global stage.

"But, we're not just coming to the World Cup; we want to compete on all levels. I feel like everyone in the team is ready to go," Semenyo said.

"For us, we can compete with these teams. It's just [about] winning games, having fun and showing the nation what we can do," he added.

Despite the AFCON setback, Ghana secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico, where they have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Mexico and Panama.
