Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has thrown his full support behind midfielder Salim Adams to be crowned Ghana Premier League Player of the Season, following an impressive campaign that helped power the club to the title.
The 24-year-old has been one of the standout performers in Medeama’s dominant season, playing a central role in their championship triumph.
With just one game remaining in the 2025/26 campaign, the former Hearts of Oak midfielder has registered 12 goals in 28 appearances, underlining his influence from midfield.
Speaking to the club’s media, Tanko was emphatic in his praise for Adams, insisting his performances have been impossible to ignore across the league.
“Salim Adams deserves the Player of the Season award. If you look at the performance, every coach in Ghana can testify that there is no doubt he is outstanding,” he said.
Tanko also reflected on his long-standing connection with the player, tracing his development from youth international level and crediting his progress in mentality and professionalism.
“I have known him since his time in the U-17 national team. He is my relative, and I have also taken him to U-23 tournaments, so I know his abilities and when to push him to the best. We know his strength, power, and pace. He listened to our advice and changed his attitude,” Tanko explained.
Medeama will conclude their league campaign with an away fixture against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
Adams will, however, miss the match after earning a call-up to the Black Stars squad for the international friendly against Mexico.
