Tragedy has struck the Accra Basketball League following the death of player Michael Arhin after he reportedly collapsed during a game.

In an official statement released by Nungua Coldstore Basketball Club, it confirmed the passing of their player, describing the news as a painful loss to the entire team and basketball community.

“It is with deep sadness that Nungua Coldstore Basketball Club confirms the passing of our player, Michael Arhin,” the statement read.

The club further described Arhin as a valued member whose impact would be deeply missed by teammates, officials, friends and supporters.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, teammates and everyone affected by this tragic loss,” the statement added.

According to reports, Arhin collapsed during a match in the Accra Basketball League before later being pronounced dead, sending shockwaves across Ghana’s basketball fraternity.

The club indicated that further communication would be made in consultation with the family and relevant authorities.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be officially detailed.
