Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has called on African countries to put aside individual interests and unite for the growth of athletics on the continent.
Speaking during the Council Meeting of the Confederation of African Athletics in Accra, kofi Adams, urged member nations to “speak with one voice” whenever issues concerning African athletics arise.
According to him, although athletes compete under different national flags, African countries must maintain a united front at the administrative level to push the continent’s sporting agenda.
“We may have our athletes competing based on our flags from individual countries, but when we meet as a federation like this, I want us to speak with one voice,” he said.
The minister stressed that collaboration among African nations would help improve sports infrastructure across the continent and strengthen Africa’s influence in global athletics.
He further commended Sebastian Coe for his leadership at World Athletics, noting that athletics has become more competitive and attractive under his administration.
