Indigenous mining and engineering firm Engineers and Planners has made a US$2 million payment towards its US$5 million commitment to support the Black Stars' preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The symbolic presentation took place on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Ghana’s Ministry of Finance, where the company’s founder, Ibrahim Mahama, was received by Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem.
The contribution forms part of a broader US$30 million fundraising drive aimed at supporting Ghana’s campaign in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

E&P’s initial US$5 million pledge, one of the largest single private-sector commitments to the national team in recent years, positions the company as a headline sponsor of the initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Ampem confirmed that the funds had already been transferred, with the ceremony held to formally acknowledge the contribution.
“Today, we are privileged to have our lead sponsor, Engineers and Planners, who on the day of the launch pledged to support us with $5 million. I’m happy to say that today, they are here to redeem part of the pledge of $2 million. They have already paid the money into the account, but we are going to do the symbolic presentation,” he said.
Ibrahim Mahama reiterated the company’s commitment to national development through sport, emphasising that the donation reflects a broader sense of responsibility to the country.
“We promised to contribute to the Black Stars. Contributing to the Black Stars means that we are contributing to everybody. This is to say that we are committed to Ghana. This is just the beginning. Our workers who contributed would also want to be recognised that their hard work also contributed to the Black Stars,” he said.
The investment is expected to boost preparations for the tournament and reflects renewed corporate confidence in Ghana’s national team.
