Portuguese coach, Daniel Gaspar has been appointed as the new goalkeeper's coach for the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Gaspar, a long-time collaborator of newly appointed head coach Carlos Queiroz, replaces Fatau Dauda, who previously handled the role under former boss Otto Addo.

Despite the change, Dauda remains part of the Black Stars’ technical setup.
The Portuguese-American trainer brings a wealth of experience, having worked closely with Queiroz across multiple international assignments, including three FIFA World Cup tournaments with Portugal and two with Iran.

His appointment signals continuity in Queiroz’s trusted backroom team.
Gaspar currently serves with Hartford Athletic, where his impact has been widely acknowledged.

Speaking on the development, head coach Brendan Burke praised Gaspar’s achievement and professionalism.

“This represents Dan’s fourth World Cup on the sidelines a tremendous lifetime achievement for anyone."

“We are truly lucky to have him as part of our technical staff here in Hartford.”

“Our entire roster, technical staff, and organization are excited for him and his team to chase the World Cup one month from now,” Burke said.
