Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has officially begun his European tour with a key focus on strengthening relationships within Ghana’s squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to a statement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Queiroz has already held initial meetings with two of the team’s most influential figures, captain Jordan Ayew and deputy captain Thomas Partey.

The engagements are part of a wider strategy to connect with the core of the Black Stars squad based in Europe, understand their current form, and align them with his tactical vision.

The GFA noted that Queiroz’s European visit is a continuation of his early groundwork after recently taking charge of the national team.

His mission is to build strong communication channels with players before Ghana’s preparations intensify for the global showpiece.

The Portuguese coach, who was appointed earlier in April 2026, is expected to meet several other key players in the coming weeks as he continues his tour across Europe.

His first major test with the squad is expected in June 2026, when Ghana are scheduled to face Wales in an international friendly, followed by another fixture against Mexico.

Queiroz’s appointment came after Ghana parted ways with Otto Addo following a series of disappointing results, including heavy friendly defeat to Austria and a 2-1 loss to Germany in March 2026.

The Black Stars have been drawn into a challenging World Cup group alongside England, Panama, and Croatia.
