Former Black Stars striker, Prince Tagoe has claimed he would have saved FK Partizan during their recent goalless draw against FK Cukaricki, insisting he would have found the net multiple times.
Speaking to Serbian outlet Direktno after returning to Belgrade for the first time in 15 years, the ex-Black Stars striker expressed confidence in his abilities.
“I wished I was on the field during the match countless times. I can say immodestly that out of so many crosses I would have converted at least three into goals and with my head,” Tagoe said.
The visit was emotional for the former forward, who remains a cult hero among Partizan supporters following his prolific loan spell during the 2010/11 season.
Tagoe scored 12 goals in 18 appearances, including crucial strikes against fierce rivals Red Star Belgrade in the Serbian Cup semi-finals and the decisive goal in the historic 140th Eternal Derby.
He was in attendance at the invitation of club vice president Predrag Mijatović and was warmly received by fans at the Humska Stadium.
“I can’t describe the emotions I felt. Many people wanted to take pictures with me. Partizan fans will forever remain in my heart,” he added.
Tagoe also reunited with former teammate Marko Jovanović and paid tribute to Mladen Krstajić, describing him as “the best professional” he encountered in his career.
Now working as a scout for German agency Bava Sports and Virtus Africa, the former striker highlighted the abundance of talent across the African continent, signaling his continued involvement in the development of football beyond his playing days.
