Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, returned to Ghana on Monday, April 6, 2026, to a warm reception at the Accra International Airport following his successful four-day official trip to Worcester, Massachusetts, USA.
During the visit, Vanderpuije held discussions with the Mayor of Worcester, Joseph Patel, and key stakeholders to advance plans for Ghanaian participation during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The meetings focused on fan engagement, cultural programs, and community partnerships, with Worcester authorities coordinating accommodation, transport, and facilities for travelling fans.
Speaking to the media on his arrival, the former Mayor of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly revealed that Ghanaians, through Ashton Travels and Tour, will have a good time in America during the 2026 World Cup.

“They have made arrangements by way of accommodation, transportation, and centres, and whatever is needed has been put in place by the city authorities.
They are working with Ashton to make sure that our fans will be at home. In fact, the mayor said that Worcester, during the FIFA games, will be the Ghanaians’ home away from home,” he said.
As Chairman of the Committee under Ashton Travels and Tour, tasked with mobilising Ghanaian fans, Vanderpuije also toured the Black Stars’ training facilities in Rhode Island.
He inspected fields, sports centres, and accommodation facilities to ensure the team and fans have a seamless experience. Reflecting on the preparations, Vanderpuije was full of optimism.
“We must put forth our best foot with determination, both the Black Stars and the fans. And Ghana, the flag of Ghana will reign supreme,” he added.
The visit highlighted the collaboration between Worcester and Ghanaian stakeholders, with a shared commitment to cultural exchange, community unity, and economic opportunities.
The initiative, originally spearheaded by Kelvis Albert Quaynor, CEO of Back of House Concepts, continues to guide the partnership.
