Asante Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League clash against FC Samartex 1996 was disrupted by heavy rainfall after the first half, forcing officials to halt play at the Baba Yara Stadium on Monday, April 6, 2026.

The Matchday 28 encounter was stopped due to the downpour, which rendered the pitch unplayable, with the scoreline locked at 0-0 before the break.

Officials have since confirmed that the second half will be played on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 9:00 am.

Samartex threatened early in the match and nearly opened the scoring in the third minute, but Kotoko goalkeeper Aziz Dari made a crucial save to tip the ball away for a corner before the defence cleared the danger.

The Porcupine Warriors responded moments later, with Emmanuel Kotei coming close to scoring in the eighth minute from a tight angle, only for the Samartex goalkeeper to gather the effort.

The visitors continued to push forward as the first half progressed and delivered a dangerous cross from the right in the 18th minute, but the ball sailed over everyone and went out for a goal kick.

With the pitch waterlogged following the heavy rain, the referee had no choice but to postpone the remainder of the game, leaving both teams to return the following morning to complete the final 45 minutes.

The outcome remains crucial, particularly for Kotoko, who are chasing vital points as the season approaches its closing stages.
