The Ghana Tourism Authority has launched a partnership with Tribe Culture First to bring the viewing experience of the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches to all sixteen regions of Ghana.

At an event held at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 27, 2026, officials explained that the initiative is aimed at helping people avoid traveling outside their communities to watch the games.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GTA, Maame Efua Houadjeto, emphasised that the project will have both economic impact and foster community engagement.

“We are not just launching; we are living a dream come true. We are igniting the National Experience 16 by 16 Project, a bold, inclusive, and forward-looking activation designed to bring the FIFA World Cup closer to every Ghanaian. As Ghanaians are passionate about football, not everyone will be able to travel to Canada, the US, or Mexico. Some of us will be here cheering our team, and this 16 by 16 project is for you. We wouldn’t want to leave anyone out, regardless of economic status,” she said.

“16 by 16 will provide free, high-quality public viewing experiences across all 16 regions of Ghana. It will create opportunities for citizens to come together to watch, celebrate, and connect during the World Cup period from June 11 to July 12, 2026. This is not just about football, but also tourism, community engagement, identity, and economic stimulation,” Houadjeto added.

The partnership will allow the GTA to broadcast selected World Cup matches in cities and towns across all 16 regions, ensuring that locals can enjoy the tournament.
