The Ghana Football Association has clarified circumstances surrounding the late inclusion of Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer into the Black Stars camp.
Speaking on the situation, GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum explained that the decision was part of a contingency plan by the technical team.
“Ransford was already on standby. We always have a list of players we monitor closely in case of injuries or withdrawals, so his inclusion was not by chance but part of our planning,” Twum stated.
He explained that Königsdörffer was part of a group of players being closely observed and kept on standby to step in if injuries occurred within the squad.
His eventual invitation came following the withdrawal of key forwards, paving the way for the Hamburg-based attacker to join the team in camp.
Henry Asante Twum emphasized that such preparations are standard practice to ensure the Ghana national football team maintain squad depth and competitiveness at all times.
