Herbalife Ghana has announced a nutrition partnership with LA Galaxy and Ghana star Joseph’s Paintsil’s JP Academy football club, where the company will serve as the Official Nutrition Partner of JP Academy and its affiliated JP Club teams.
The partnership was unveiled at a press briefing held at Herbalife Ghana’s offices at Airport Square in Accra. It is part of a broader commitment by the global nutrition and wellness company to invest in long-term community empowerment initiatives, particularly those focused on getting young people into sport.
Speaking at the event, Clarence Amenyah, Sr Manager, Country Sales, Ghana said: “I’m delighted that Herbalife Ghana has had the opportunity to partner with Joseph. This initiative is focused on education, sports development and nutrition for young people and we hope it will deliver a long-term and sustained impact as our relationship develops."

Joseph Paintsil, who attended the launch, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration and its potential to transform young lives: “I am grateful to Herbalife International, Herbalife Ghana and LA Galaxy for this opportunity. This partnership shows Herbalife’s genuine commitment to supporting communities and investing in grassroots football.”
The partnership builds on Paintsil’s existing relationship with Herbalife through LA Galaxy, where the company serves as the club’s exclusive nutrition partner.
This extension brings that performance-focused collaboration to Ghana, with the aim of strengthening athlete development at grassroots level.
Herbalife Ghana has operated in the country since 2011 through its network of independent distributors.
Globally, Herbalife operates in more than 90 countries, and its product ranges include weight management, targeted nutrition, sports nutrition and outer nutrition, all of which are designed to support individual wellness goals.
JP Academy at the Centre of the Initiative
Central to the partnership is JP Academy, Paintsil’s football academy, which will serve as the primary platform for implementing the programme in Ghana. The academy focuses on nurturing young talent while instilling discipline, teamwork and character development.
“At JP Academy, our aim is to give young footballers a professional environment where they can grow both as players and as individuals,” Paintsil noted. “We want to contribute meaningfully to Ghanaian football and produce players who excel on and off the pitch.”
Through the partnership, academy players will gain access to structured nutrition education and products, addressing a key gap often seen in grassroots sports development.
As part of the agreement, Herbalife Ghana will work with JP Academy’s coaching staff to design and implement a structured, team-wide nutrition programme for academy players, including education on fueling, hydration and recovery to support athletic development.
Support for Vulnerable Communities
As part of the launch activities, Herbalife Ghana and Joseph Paintsil paid a visit to Potter’s Village in Dodowa, a partner organisation of the Herbalife Family Foundation.
The visit included the presentation of nutrition products and essential supplies, underscoring the partnership’s immediate community impact.
“This visit reflects our commitment to supporting communities where help is most needed. It is important that our work goes beyond sport to touch lives more broadly,” Amenyah said.
A Holistic Approach to Youth Empowerment
The collaboration is designed to deliver impact across multiple areas, including improved nutrition standards for young athletes, education on healthy living, and structured opportunities for personal development.
It also seeks to strengthen community ties by using sport as a unifying force.
Addressing young footballers and volunteers, Paintsil offered words of encouragement drawn from his own journey.
“I urge young players to play with passion, discipline and fairness. I also want to acknowledge the coaches and volunteers whose work often goes unnoticed but is vital to youth development,” he said.
He emphasised that with the right guidance, nutrition and values, young Ghanaian athletes can aspire to international success.
Both parties stressed that the partnership is a sustained commitment rather than a short-term campaign.
“This partnership reflects a shared commitment to building sustainable athlete development pathways in Ghana,” Amenyah concluded.
The programme will feature regular training sessions, nutrition workshops and community outreach activities throughout the year. Further engagements, including visits to JP Academy facilities, are expected to provide additional details on ongoing initiatives.
Through the combined efforts of Herbalife Ghana and Joseph Paintsil, the partnership aims to strengthen youth development in Ghana through improved access to nutrition education, structured sports training and values-based growth.
Potter's Village Receives Major Donation
As part of the partnership launch, Herbalife Ghana and Joseph Paintsil made a significant donation to Potter's Village in Dodowa, a Herbalife Family Foundation partner organization.
The donation included nutrition products and other essential support items, demonstrating the partnership's immediate impact on vulnerable communities.
The visit to Potter's Village served as a symbolic kick-off to the collaboration, emphasizing that this initiative extends beyond football to address broader community needs, particularly for children who face socioeconomic challenges.
Both Herbalife Ghana and Joseph Paintsil stressed that this is not a short-term campaign but a sustained commitment to Ghana's youth.
