The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that the government is working on securing financial assistance from corporate Ghana to fund supporters to cheer on the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to him, the plan is to solicit funding from corporate bodies and other institutions interested in supporting the cause, in order to generate revenue for the project.

The Member of Parliament for the Buem constituency clarified that the amount of money government can raise will determine the number of fans the State will sponsor for the World Cup.

“The policy that we should take fans is clear. It is clear that we should work at it, and that is why we have set up a fundraising committee. The number we ultimately take will depend on how much we raise,” he said during an interview with Asempa FM.

The sports minister appealed to corporate institutions to contribute financially so that more supporters can travel to support the Black Stars at the World Cup.

“This is why we are appealing to corporate bodies, companies, mining firms, and well-meaning individuals to come on board and support this initiative,” he added.

The Black Stars have been placed in Group L alongside Croatia, England, and Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.
