Assistant coach of the Black Stars, John Paintsil, has hinted that there would be surprises when Ghana’s squad for the 2026 World Cup is announced.
The senior national team will compete at the tournament scheduled for this summer across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
With the final squad for the tournament expected to be named on June 1, Paintsil has confirmed that both local and international players are being considered for selection.
"We are focused on both local and international players for the Black Stars' World Cup squad. Every Ghanaian who qualifies to play is welcome, but there will be a lot of surprises," Paintsil told Asempa FM.
As part of their preparations, the team will regroup in March for international friendlies against Austria and Germany.
Ghana has been drawn into Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
The Black Stars will kick off their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, face England in Boston, and conclude the group stage against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
