Editorial - Prof. Ewurama Addy Exposes GFA Again

The respected Professor of Science Mariam Ewurama Addy, whose name has suddenly come into the public domain in connection to a fishy deal that the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Afrisat and Mid-Sea Company Limited have done, has over the weekend smashed the ugly threats of a lawyer, the big cover-up attempt by the GFA and the loud-silence that the F.A nearly got in the matter of needlessly paying 10% of Glo’s sponsorship deal amount to an agency.
Prof Ewurama Addy’s statement which was released over the weekend clearly exposed the hasty attempt by a half-baked lawyer of Mid-Sea who without the consent of the company’s board of directors went to press with a statement, full of untruths and inconsistencies but carefully crafted with the shameful attempt to cover-up an indecent sharing of 10% of monies meant for the management of Ghana football.
The Prof, in the statement gave a chronological account of happenings within the company and involving the board of directors and categorically re-stated her earlier position that the company Midsea and its bank accounts had not received any financial inflows from the GFA, as a result of a service it had done in respect of.
This insistence by the Prof, who is a director of the company and earlier did distanced the board of directors and the company from any dealings with the F.A, exposed the likelihood that members of the GFA had connived with Afrisat’s Rene Williams and the manager of Mid-Sea, Anthony Cole, to front for the deduction of the 10% commission.
Rene whose services was not needed in the Glo sponsorship deal, since the F.A had directly been contacted by Glo with a sponsorship package, then succeeded in milking 10% of the initial payment and committed the F.A to paying him 10% of any further payments that Glo will make, in the next four years.
The multimillion dollar question that the F.A. must answer is to whom the 10% of the Glo deal amount was paid to and to which account name and number, especially after Glo had made the first move of contacting the F.A with their sponsorship intents. If as Kwesi Nyantakyi said, Mid-Sea is the agent for the deal, why is it that Mid-Sea’s bank a counts did not reflect the payment of US$100,000 being their 10% of the initial US$1 million that Globacom paid?
After carefully analysing Professor’s press release, The Informer has been strengthened in our position that there is every need for the intelligence bodies in the country to pick-up the computers of the F.A. and do proper investigations into the business of running Ghana football.
The much-expected Public Interest Committee (PIC) is expected to be announced soon and it is our fervent hope that the Minister of Sports, Akua Sena Dansua, will not give us reason to concentrate on her feet-dragging and ugly noises over the membership and composition of the committee. The Informer intends to concentrate on amplifying the successes of President Mills and exposing the reckless looting-brigade-ship in the NPP. So please don’t waste our time, Madam Sports Minister.
From what is happening in the F.A. no Ghanaian in his/her right senses will call for a stoppage of investigations into the administration of funds meant for football administration. So why are you making noise?
Prof is too big to allow her name to be dragged in the mud. So she has spoken, once again. The GFA and its mafia group have been exposed. The time has come for us to act. And act fast.
