Cape Coast Football Mafia Set to Deliver...

The gained entrenched stance some referees in Cape Coast have taken has seen the gradual decline in youth football. There has been this persistent tradition where referees like Dawson Amoah, Kennedy Bentil, Jeff Amamoo, Fred Andoh, Charles-CK and Abass have formed a click who determines the teams that qualify into the Division 1 league.

They have persistently made teams in the Central region who have the potential to perform in higher leagues make a sowing because they will not kotow to their whims and caprices by paying up the monies that they extort from those teams in the middle league.

Through their persistent knack for fixing matches and robbing good teams in their bad officiating in favour of their favourites, people who have invested in the game there have stopped pursing their interest due to this mafia click. An example of such a person is Amakye Dede who was so disgusted during the last two years ago middle league for qualification into the Division 1 to the extent that he has been made to disband his team the Highkings FC.

There is therefore the latest agitation by the teams in the region that the GFA should send a new team of referees for this year’s middle league 2010.Dunkwa United who have paid good money to qualify are number one favourites, Elimina Sharks are number two.

These two teams will meet in the finals; the one who pays the highest money will qualify for first Division. They call it their cocoa harvest. The worst is that, they are of late using new upcoming referees.

The question is, will the GFA not help Mr. Doe and Mr. Danquah to stop the Big six. Word making rounds is that if nothing is done there will be a total boycott of all matches if the mentioned referees are allowed to officiate games.
