Badu's World Cup hopes alive

Emmanuel Agyemang Badu’s club season is over, but the Ghana midfielder will be fit in time for the 2010 World Cup after picking up a knee injury on Sunday.

Badu had tests on his injured knee on Monday and tells KickOffGhana.com that the result says he will be out for only two weeks, which keeps his World Cup hopes perfectly alive.

“Doctors say it is nothing serious and that I would need two weeks on the sidelines. I am relieved because it means I am in no danger of missing the World Cup,” he tells KickOffGhana.com.

The Udinese player came on as a 49th-minute substitute for his club over the weekend, but went off 26 minutes later.

With Ghana due to name its provisional squad of 30 for the World Cup before preparations begin on May 24 in Paris, Badu is now almost certain to be part of the party.

But the injury means an end to his first season in Italian football with two rounds of matches remaining.
