Supersport United coach slams Ghana ref as 'disgrace'

Supersport United coach Gavin Hunt says the handling of their CAF Champions League game against Nigeria's Heartland by Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey was a "disgrace".

"The referee was a disgrace. I don't know how many free-kicks and yellow card were showed during the match. We also had an obvious penalty but he turned a blind eye when a Nigerian," defender handled the ball inside the 18 area box.

"However despite the results we are still confident of beating the Nigerian team and go to the next stage of the tournament."

Heartland drew 1-1 against United in the CAF match at Rand Stadium on Saturday.

With the result from the first leg favouring the Nigerians, Matsatsantsa will need to dig deep if they hope to advance to the next stage of the competition.

While Heartland coach Emeteole Kelechi sings the praises of SuperSport United as being a good team, he says they will not give them respect when they meet in the second leg match at home.

"I have high respect of SuperSport United and today (Saturday) they showed that they are a great side. I was happy with the result, although I feel we should have done better.

"After scoring our goal, we gave them too much space which allowed them to get an equalizer. However, it's going to be a totally different ball game at home in Nigeria and we will not give SuperSport United any chance of advancing to the next stage of the competition at our expense."
